This is just a quick note to let you know that on THURSDAY, February 21, Stowe Middle High School will be conducting an enhanced lockdown drill, which will incorporate training that was received earlier in the year through the ALiCE protocol. As communicated earlier, A.L.I.C.E. is an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate.
During Thursday’s drill, scheduled for 1:45pm, students and teachers will enter their traditional lockdown locations, and practice the barricading skill that was explained to them during our first ALiCE training in September and practiced in November. They will have time, after practicing, to debrief with their teachers. The school will work with our partners at the Stowe Police Department, and district leadership, to use our learnings from the drill to continue to inform and improve safety practices at the school site. We are anticipating that our friends at the Stowe Police Department will be onsite during the drill. You may see police vehicles and/or officers at the school to observe and provide tips. Altogether, the drill is expected to last about 15 minutes.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
