Six Stowe Middle School students competed in the statewide Destination Imagination tournament this weekend and won the most prestigious award at the tournament. Seventh graders Ethan Choularton, Izzy Choularton, Peyton Emory, Ezra McDonald, Howle Percy, and Asher Rosenbaum have been preparing for the tournament since October. Working as a team, they devised a multi-step solution to a complex STEAM challenge. On Saturday, the team competed against teams from around the state under the name The Swift Dumplings. Using engineering and artistic skills, they so impressed the judges that they won the DaVinci Award for exceptional creativity, a unique approach to the problem, and risk taking. The DaVinci Award is the most coveted award, and the Stowe Middle School Swift Dumplings will have their name engraved on a trophy below the names of all the past winners. The trophy will be displayed in our school until next year’s tournament, so be sure to take a look at it when it arrives. The team wants to thank their coaches and Mr. Waite, who generously hosted them in his classroom for the past six months.
