Helen Day Art Center’s Student Art Show features the extraordinary artistic talents of students in the greater Stowe area. The show opens Wednesday, May 1st and runs through Saturday, June 1st. Stowe Elementary School, Middle School, High School, and Mountain River School students exhibit their artwork along with students from this year’s guest school, Middlesex’s Rumney Memorial School.

This event marks our 38th year of exhibiting local students’ work in the galleries. All are welcome. Complimentary ice cream will be served thanks to Ben and Jerry’s. In addition to enjoying the exhibit and refreshments, reception guests can also participate in an art activity. The community is invited to support area youth and discover the talents of these masters in the making.

Teachers will be taking their classes out to clean up the SES surroundings on Friday, May 3.  Clear recycling bags and Green Up bags will be provided.  Parents are welcome to join their kids at the designated clean up times for their class.  Please check with your child or your child's teacher to see when they will be beautifying the SES grounds!

Teacher Appreciation Breakfast

The PTO's Teacher Appreciation Breakfast will be Thursday, May 16th.  Thank you in advance for your generous support, we could not do it without you!  All children are encouraged to participate by creating a card for their teacher and bringing it to school on May 16th.  5th graders will continue helping with the K classrooms & the student breakfast, so these teachers can also join the meal.  This year, we have arranged for a harpist to perform.  Judi Byron will play during the breakfast and then again for all the students later that morning in the gym.  Parents can get involved in many ways: providing flowers (a longtime tradition; if you need a vase we have extras in the PTO closet), providing food items (due May 15th and kindly have your dishes serving ready), transforming the cafeteria (3 PM May 15th), making breakfast (6-7:30 AM, May 16th), serving/hosting the breakfast, watching kids at recess, helping with the student breakfast, manning the front office/nurse station,  being in the K classroom (7:30-8:10 AM, May 16th), or cleaning up.  *All food items, flowers, linens, and other donations need to be at SES by 3 PM, May 15th.  It's always a special event - sign up early so we have plenty of time to get organized.  If you have questions, please call Christina DeRuzza ([email protected]; 253-1542).

The Mad River/Stowe Rugby Club will be hosting an open house for the local community on Wednesday, May 1st at 6 pm at Rimrock's Tavern in Stowe. Several local members of the rugby club will be on hand to answer questions and gather information on the community's interest in youth rugby and on how we should best introduce rugby to the kids of our area. Kids ages 7 to 17 and their parents who are interested in rugby are invited to join us for a brief presentation and informal discussion. Snacks and sodas are compliments of your local rugby club.
