Tick Season Prevention Message from Mary Karen, School Nurse

Ticks are out and busy! I have seen quite a few kids with ticks and recent tick bites! Please be mindful when having students outside and near wooded areas. Doing checks will help!

Special Olympics Torch Run

The Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run will take place on Friday, June 7, at 11:00AM.  Officer Merriam will be running with Police and Fire Department representatives, Girls on the Run participants and members of the Special Olympics.  The torch will be carried through the downtown area and right by SES, where students and staff will cheer the runners on!  Please be advised, there's a collection box in the office if you would like to make a donation to this noteworthy cause.

Collection Drive

Over the past two months, the 4th graders have been working on a service learning project focused on creating positive change in our community. With the help of our partner organization, The Service Learning Project, students in two groups each selected an issue that they wanted to focus on. The groups chose to focus on homelessness and library access in Vermont.

Our homelessness group spent time researching homelessness in the state, interviewing local shelter directors, and developing an action plan for how they want to make a difference on this issue. One of their efforts includes a supply drive for individuals and families affected by homelessness here in the county. Donations of canned food, toiletries, and new or gently used blankets are needed. There will be two collection bins in the Elementary School from May 31 through June 7, 2019 if you are able to donate. Thank you!

Alon Goldstein, a concert pianist, will be performing at SES on Friday, June 7 from 1:00 to 1:45 PM.  All are invited to enjoy his mesmerizing talent, dynamic personality and artistic vision, courtesy of Stowe Performing Arts.
