Together with the Stowe Police and Fire Department, we are continuing to implement strategies to prepare staff and students for emergency situations using the ALICE Training Framework. ALICE stands for "Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate" and helps participants think about ways to use all of these tools in emergency situations. All faculty and staff have been trained in ALICE and will use these tools as part of emergency response protocols. For more information about ALICE, you may visit ALICE TRAINING.
Teachers will also be teaching and practicing selected strategies from the ALICE framework with SES students. Students will be reminded that we teach about safety in lots of ways and learn that we are working on new plans to help each other stay safe. Our tools for some emergency situations include scattering and hiding in different places within the classroom and also getting away (evacuation). SPD and SFD will be assisting with our first practice, which is scheduled for Wednesday, October 2 at 8:30 AM.
If you have any questions, please contact me or Wendy Monahan, our school counselor. As always, we welcome opportunities to talk with you and answer any questions you may have.
The next Community Meeting will be on Friday, October 4, 8:20 AM. Our Main Presenters will be Mrs. Maddy Hulbert's 5th Graders while Mrs. Tamara North's 4th Graders will be hosting the Parent Pop quiz. Please join us!
In our efforts to move toward a safer and more orderly dismissal process, we are asking all parents or caregivers who are picking up their child to meet them in the Dining Area and then to exit through the doors to the playground.
Please note: Parking in the condominium complexes within close proximity to the school is prohibited. If you park in unauthorized spaces, your car may be towed!
Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences will be taking place on October 18th. These conferences are a time for your children's teachers to talk with you about their progress in school this year. Our efforts with proficiency-based learning afford us opportunities to discuss progress with a perspective that is increasingly personalized and comprehensive.
Conferences will be held on Friday, October 18th, from 8:00 - 4:00 PM; however, teachers are always willing to accomodate scheduling at a different time if that will better meet your family's needs.
You may schedule a conference by utilizing PTC Wizard, accessible here. Registration will open on Thursday, October 3 at 8:00AM
Individual student and sibling photos will be taken tomorrow, but the all-school and faculty/staff photos will be postponed until the weather looks like it will cooperate.
“When is my child sick enough to stay home from school?” The answer to this question, and many more, can be found here!
We are excited about the upcoming Wreath and Citrus Fundraiser! This annual effort, previously headed by the 6th grade, has been transitioned to SES and will replace the many fundraisers the SES PTO has used in the past to cover the costs of the SES Arts & Science enrichment activities funded by the PTO yearly. The SES PTO is also hopeful that this fundraiser will allow us to increase our contributions to grade specific enrichments that have previously been paid for by families. Look for a packet in your child's homework folder with some important information regarding this event.
To make this fundraiser a succeessful event, we are asking all of the students to participate. In this packet, you will find information on helping your child sell wreaths and boxes of citrus (oranges and grapefruits) to local businesses and members of our community. This fundraiser has become legendary in our Stowe community and, with your support, can be even better this year!
It is important to note that while parental support is crucial to the success of this fundraiser, the actual selling is to be done by the students themselves!
So please look for the packet of information that is coming home, support your children in their fundraising efforts, consider volunteering (there are many opportunites available) and enjoy the excitement of contributing to a hugely successful campaign that will enrich your child's educational experience!
Celebrate your child's birthday and be a part of the BIRTHDAY BOOK CLUB! Make a donation in honor of your child's birthday and they will have the opportunity to pick out a new book for our SES library. We will place a sticker of honor on the inside of the book/s your child has selected, memorializing their birthday. This is a great way to support our amazing SES library! Just fill out the attached form and send in/drop off at school and we will take care of the rest! Please contact Jenny Walton ([email protected]) or Genevieve Thompson ([email protected]) if you have any questions. Thank you for your support! Birthday Book Club Form

Attention Parents! The SES PTO has a NEW WEBSITE!
And with our new website, we will be moving to a Digital SES Family Directory.
The Digital SES Family Directory will be available through the SES PTO website and via mobile app. It's secure, easy to use, and free to families!
The Digital SES Family Directory is:
Convenient: Quickly search by teacher to find classmates, by grade, by student name, or parent name, set up playdates, make birthday lists, etc.
Adaptable: New families added to the directory mid-year allows us to welcome everyone quickly and easily!
Safe and Secure: All student information is secure and you always have control of what information is included! The directory is only available via secure log-in; only SES families see SES information!
