Are you looking for opportunities to visit college campuses? On May 23rd, the School Counseling Department is hosting a field trip to meet with admissions representatives and to tour the University of Vermont and Champlain College. This is a great opportunity to experience visiting both a big and small school to see what style of campus might be the right fit for you. Details: On May 23rd, students will depart from school at 8:15am and return to school at 2:00pm. This trip is open to students in grades 8-11 and there are a limited number of spaces available. 8th grade students should sign up with Ms. Nicole. High school students should sign up with Tarah. ** IMPORTANT: Students will need to bring a bag lunch due to the limited dining hall options at both schools. Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC) believes young people change the world. We are looking for new 2019 Corps Members, ages 15-26, who are excited to make a difference, spend time outside and work on a small team (a crew). Corps Members complete conservation and farm projects, while growing and enhancing job and leadership skills. Over 250 young people will get paid this summer and fall to be Crew Members or Crew Leaders as part of our award winning Conservation and Farm Programs. There are a variety of short or long-term experiences on our crews including: AmeriCorps service positions, camping crews, day crews, internships, and on-going education. Interested? American Legion Green Mountain Boys State is a program that teaches town and state government for rising high school senior boys. Delegates will experience town governance and develop leadership skills through participation. The staff is comprised of business owners, educators, and professionals, supported by state and local officials who donate their time and efforts to Boys’ State. This program is widely recognized by the US Military Academies and college and university scholarship programs. Applications Now Open: Advanced Coder Camp: Applications for the Advanced Coder Camp (days) July 22 to 26, 2019 at Vermont Technical College, Williston Campus for rising 7th–11th graders are now open. The camp provides an opportunity for students with some programming background to dive deeper into programming. Campers will learn to develop simple Android applications using Java and xml. Smartphone apps, robots, video games and small business - the world runs on code. Whether you dream of becoming a Google developer or want to launch your own mobile game startup, your coding path continues here. $175 (includes workbook, activities, instruction, some lunches, snacks, field trip and more) Many partial fee scholarships available. Applications Now Open: Computer Camp: Applications for a new Computer Camp days July 29 to Aug 2, 2019 are now open. The camp will be held by Vermont Technical College on the CCV Upper Valley Campus in White River Junction for rising 7th – 10th graders. Campers will have a chance to explore/experience a wide variety of topics in computer programming, website development, networking, cybersecurity and related fields working with Vermont Tech faculty. They’ll also have an opportunity to meet with industry professionals who will share their experience on why careers in computing can be so rewarding. Good Neighbor Scholarship: Our community supports us and we love supporting our community. After collecting apples from our neighbors, and pressing them into cider, we are excited to return the funds to our local students. Lyric Theatre Company has awarded an area high school senior with $2,000 in support of their continuing education in the performing arts with our Delano-Nulty Award for the last 45 years. Students wishing to apply for the Delano-Nulty Award must meet the following criteria:
· Graduation from an area high school or technical school in 2019 with plans to attend college or a professional theatrical training program beginning in September of 2019;
· Involvement in theater through Lyric Theatre Company, school productions, or other area theater companies;
· Demonstration of continuing interest in the performing arts;
· Education/career goals that relate to the performing arts (theater, music, dance or technical theater).

Lamoille County Players’ Sigrid Bronner Memorial Scholarship: The Lamoille County Players are now accepting applications for our annual Scholarship Award. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to further his/her education at a formal institution. Application requirements are: been involved in at least one LCP production, with special consideration to those who have been regular participants in our community theatre group, and plan to attend and institute of higher learning. Alchemist Opportunity Fund Scholarship-Details: Scholarships can be as much as $1,500 per year, renewable for up to 4 years (you must maintain a 2.5 GPA each semester). The awarded scholarship may vary depending on the type and cost of your program. Criteria: This scholarship is only for current seniors, graduating in June, 2019, who are: Graduating from one of our schools; Planning to attend an accredited 2- or 4-year college or technical training or certificate program in 2019; and, Can demonstrate their financial need.* Students attending colleges or programs in Vermont will be given special consideration.
