ALiCE Training - Drill Notification

Hello Parents,

This is just a quick note to let you know that on TUESDAY, May 21, Stowe Middle High School will be conducting an enhanced lockdown drill, which will incorporate training that was received earlier in the year through the ALiCE protocol. As communicated earlier, A.L.I.C.E. is an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate.

During Tuesday’s drill, scheduled for 1:10pm, students and teachers will enter their traditional lockdown locations, and may practice and/or discuss the barricading skill that was explained to them during our first ALiCE training in September, practiced in November and practiced in February. They will have time, after practicing, to debrief with their teachers. The school will work with our partners at the Stowe Police Department, and district leadership, to use our learnings from the drill to continue to inform and improve safety practices at the school site. We are anticipating that our friends at the Stowe Police Department will be onsite during the drill. You may see police vehicles and/or officers at the school to observe and provide tips. Altogether, the drill is expected to last about 15 - 20 minutes.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Best,

Dan Morrison, Principal

Dave Bullis, Stowe School District Facilities Director

Kyle Walker, Stowe Police Department
