Stowe Middle School is a small, rural school that is influenced by a vibrant village providing 12 months of robust resort activity. Historically, the community has supported our school so that the children will benefit from a broad array of opportunities. It has done this while maintaining the focus on those basic values that define a New England village. Our students receive a vigorous academic education while, at the same time, they are expected to dedicate themselves to service and socializing activities. Honesty, sincerity, hard work, freethinking and loyalty to family and society all are core values emphasized both in our school and in our homes.
We find ourselves in a time in which it is difficult to maintain a school’s greatest asset—its faculty. Despite this, we have been able to provide our students with a faculty of an average of 19 years of teaching experience with 67% of them holding advanced degrees and beyond. Ours is a school with support for all learners while having an emphasis on academics. In part, this is accomplished with a 1:10 teacher to student ratio and a strong advisory program.
Striving for excellence, through diverse and comprehensive programs designed to inspire a life-long love of learning, the Stowe School District, in cooperation with our community, will provide a stimulating and supportive environment that challenges all students to be respectful and responsible world citizens.
All of us on the LSUU board come from different backgrounds, from different experiences and from different communities. However, we have one single focus: to provide our students with an education that will give them the solid foundation they need to be successful. ...
Have a great February break!...
Due to the cold temperatures and wind chill factor. We have decided to cancel Friday Program for tomorrow, Friday, February 14th. We are so sorry, but we feel it is best not to expose students, faculty, staff or volunteers to below freezing temperatures especially with wind involved.
Thanks for your understanding!...
